One of the most exciting developments in the world of photography in recent years has been the development of mirrorless digital cameras. First developed by Olympus in 2009, the mirrorless camera has improved to the point where both enthusiasts and professionals are unsure whether to buy it or the traditional DSLR.

Based on the 35mm camera model, the DSLR uses a mirror to reflect the image into a small viewfinder while the mirrorless camera relies on a rear LCD screen to see the picture. While both cameras take excellent pictures, they each have their particular advantages.

The DSLR offers a larger selection of lenses and accessories, but it is also bigger and not as efficient at autofocus for video. The mirrorless camera’s smaller size makes it easier to tote around while taking equally beautiful photos, but using the electronic viewfinder can drain the battery faster than the old DSLR.
